What does sustainability mean for STOCKMEIER? How did STOCKMEIER come to EcoVadis? How has the journey with EcoVadis been so far? What are the challenges? And what are STOCKMEIER's visions for the future in terms of sustainability?Anna Lenze, Programme Manager Sustainability in Procurement, and Mike Dannenberg, Managing Director and Sustainability Manager, answered these and other questions with their presentation at the Sustainability Forum.
Over 100 experts from purchasing, CSR and sustainability from the DACH region took part. The motto of the event was "Collaboration". Networking and exchanging ideas was the focus alongside the presentations and practical reports.
As a thank you to the speakers of the B2B Forum D-A-CH, EcoVadis planted 500 trees in the virtual #RestoreEarth forest of the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP). In the real world, these will be planted in Boré, Kenya.
The trees are Moringa oleifera trees, so-called horseradish trees, which EcoVadis has deliberately chosen. This tree species not only typically reduces CO2, but also makes a great contribution to the local community: all parts of the plant are used in local traditional medicine and have an anti-inflammatory, bactericidal effect or are used for rheumatic complaints. Many parts of the tree are edible. For example, the fruits are eaten like green beans, the leaves are used as juice diets for and against malnutrition, and the seeds, when pressed, yield one of the most stable plant oils and can be used as powder for drinking water purification. A tree with impact!
