Cleaning and disinfection in the mushroom cultivation

Professional optimization of operational hygiene processes

Poland, France, and Germany produce over 500.000 tons of champignon mushrooms yearly.* We at STOCKMEIER Cleaning Solutions know that correct hygiene measures are the cornerstone of prevention in the fight against the spread of diseases that threaten mushroom crops. Based on many years of experience, we have developed an outstanding hygiene program that protects your crop.

We guide you through the different cultivation phases, from substrate production and fermentation through pasteurization to the spawning and growth phase. Lastly, we consult in the final cropping phase. We help you with temperature guidance, the complex microbiology in your buildings and the soil or cultures, and a deep knowledge of diseases and how to cope with them.

Let us find out more about what makes us stand out.

For 20 years, I have been involved in hygiene in mushroom cultivation farms and mushroom substrate production sites. I know most Polish companies, their regional differences, and their needs. By implementing an effective cleaning and disinfection program that my colleagues and I developed through years of practice, we help our customers prevent diseases that significantly affect the mushroom growing process.

Four phases of mushroom cultivation

Our knowledge presented here focuses on indoor tray growing, but we serve all kinds of mushroom farming. If you grow outdoor logs or specialize in specific parts of the production process, we'd like to get to know you better, too.

Composting / Fermentation – Phase I

Composting / Fermentation – Phase I

Most compost heaps consist of straw as a cellulose source, water, manure (chicken or else), and some pH-regulators. It usually takes around 8-10 days at around 80 degrees Celsius in the heap to open up the substrate for further microbiological processes

Pasteurization – Phase II

Pasteurization – Phase II

In closed tunnels, this step takes around 5 days, including loading.

Spawning and growth – Phase III

Spawning and growth – Phase III

After Spawning in an ultra-hygienic environment to protect the spores from airborne microorganisms, the substrate is filled in trays or readied to deliver as bulk product. It takes around three weeks until Phase IV may start

Cropping and Harvesting – Phase IV

Cropping and Harvesting – Phase IV

If temperature, CO2, humidity and hygiene deliver good conditions, a farmer may harvest up to 34 kg/m² over 15 to 18 days
