Enzymes
For decades, our partner Genencor, a subsidiary of IFF, offers amongst others a wide range of advanced enzymes (liquefaction, saccharification, fermentation, isomerization, …) used for grain & carbohydrate processing (bioethanol, food and beverage applications).

Fuel ethanol solutions: liquefaction process
Description
Liquefaction breaks down the starch into shorter chains called dextrins (dextrinization) to avoid gelatinization (hydration and swelling of starch granules resulting in maximum viscosity).

Fuel ethanol solutions: saccharification & fermentation process
Description
Saccharification breaks down shorter glucose chains (dextrins) into fermentable sugars (glucose) where yeast then converts glucose to ethanol and CO₂ during fermentation.
